In the middle of this screen the user can select or drag an activity to the left panel. the flex application calculates automatically the total amount of cal. burned after the user inputs the duration of the activity. On the left you see calories burned and on the right total calorie intake.

Below you find the introduction of the Nubel food-planner application we’ve been developing.
The food66 planner will be based on the idea’s and the know-how we gathered building  the Nubel food-planner but targets the American markets.

NUBEL’s Food Planning Tool for the Belgian market

NUBEL is a non-profit making association responsible for managing nutrition-related information in Belgium and has been having a computer programme called “Food planning tool” for about ten years now. With the rapid evolution of ICT technologies, the association has taken the decision to set up a new computer environment for this tool. The new version is a web-based Internet application available on the website www.nubel.be for a yearly subscription.

Each individual user receives a personal identification number and password that gives access to the programme for one year.

The new Food Planning Tool aims at achieving a sound balance between energy intake and energy output.

The programme includes all daily activities, from sport activities to leisure activities. You only need to fill in your personal activities (with mention of their duration) and the programme calculates the energy expenditure at the end of the day.

NUBEL’s Food Planning Tool has been coupled to a database containing more than 4500 product brand names, which gives you the possibility to obtain a detailed diet history and to calculate the energy expenditure. Filters allow a quick search of product brand names and basic foodstuffs. Household measures (tea spoon e.g.) are mentioned for most of the products, so that it is not necessary to give the precise weight of a product. Updates and new product information are added to this database on a regular basis.

The programme also enables you to create your own recipes and to integrate them into your daily diet. Nutrients from recipes can be expressed per portion or per 100g.

NUBEL’s Food Planning Tool calculates the individual energy intake and compares the results with the “Reference Nutrient Intakes”.

The results per day are presented in graphs as well as in actual numbers.

In the light of the results obtained, it is possible to list the database information according to certain nutrients (total fat content, cholesterol levels, etc.). All reports including activities and recipes can be printed out.

Every day, tips are given to inform about healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, the importance of physical activity, etc.

With this Internet application, NUBEL wishes to encourage people – young and old – to introduce physical activity in their daily lives and to achieve a good balance between energy intake and energy output.

The Food 66 foodplanner is a Adobe Flex application based on the Nubel foodplanner we build last year.
